You send payments to your current loan servicer. you could also call them for info on your interest rate. your newer loans should have a fixed rate. if you have a variable interst rate your servicer should be able to tell you what it was in the past. if you don’t know whon is servicing your loans you can find out at http://www.nslds.ed.gov

I have outstanding student loans, and I don’t give a shit. I’m never paying them a thin dime. I never had any intention to. First of all, I’ll never work another job in my life, so there is nothing to garnish. Secondly, I’m leaving this country for good to the other side of the globe. Fuck Sallie Mae. They made a poor investment that they are going to have to deal with I didn’t learn anything anyway in our liberal shit colleges, so I want a refund.

I did my research like a smart college graduate should do. There are plenty of ways to get FREE help with this type thing AND something called Student Loan FORGIVENESS…all you need to do is ask your loan provider. They are required by law to give you the information. Why pay anyone anything to do what a SMART college graduate should already know how to do…if they did their homework!

my house just burnt down and all i had to look forward to to get my life back on track was my federal income tax return. ( basically money to move into a new place and start to rebuild ), sallie mae how ever took my entire tax refund of close to $3,000. I now have no home and no money, thanks sallie mae. – oh and i was promised student funds for the duration of my degree how ever they cut me short 3/4 the way through. no degree, huge debt = no way to pay it back within reason. they are are scum

Honestly, your answer is going to be no. You will have to have fair credit and proof of income plus decent work history or a co-signer. They will also want your savings and checking account information to put your finances under a microscope. It is a pain…I went the federal loan route. I wish you the best of luck!

I have successfullly gotten one private student loan, from Citi, but I’m 23, have decent credit and STILL had to have a co-signer. You may be able to do it if you have some sort of decent income, but I would guess it won’t work out without a co-signer. They make it very, very hard.

I wouldn’t try Wells Fargo, they’re even harder to work with.

Not only will they evaluate you for many scholarships and grants that your state may offer based on your information input- they will also determine if you are eligible for low interest loans that require NO cosigner. Anything is possible- you could do it like I did and just join the Army =)

Right now it’s taking over 9 months of consecutive payments to get out of ‘default’. I have no way of knowing which lender is going to take over your loan because quite frankly, student lenders have really clamped down on who they will work with.

This can also mean that you could stay in collections until it’s paid off.

The collection agency will work to find a lender to take your loan back over once you’re out of collections.

Once you are deemed out of ‘default’, you can then apply for student financial aid.

Yes, you will be considered and undergrad, so you will only qualify for undergrad level federal Stafford loan limits.

Be forwarned. There is an aggregate loan limit. Since you already have one bachelor’s degree, I’m guessing that you may already have some loans. The maximum aggregate is
– $ 31,000 for a dependent undergraduate student,
– $ 57,500 for an independent undergraduate student (or a dependent undergraduate student whose parents do not qualify for PLUS loans).

No more than $ 23,000 of this aggregate amount may be in the form of subsidized loans. So if you do have loans, your school will have to subtract what you’ve already borrowed from one of the numbers above to determine if you have any loan eligibility left.
